Three functions of A-400 Universal Resistance Checker
A/ Surface resistivity check |
Pair of stainless steel electrodes to measure surface resistivity |
For surface resistivity readings place the meter on the surface being tested and press the center button labeled TEST. If the LED labeled 106 illuminates, the surface under test has surface resistivity of 106 ohms per square or less. If the LED labeled "insulative" illuminates, the surface under test has surface resistivity greater that 1012 ohms per square. (Be sure the ground wire is not connected through the ground jack when surface resistivity is measured.) |
B/ Surface to ground resistance check |
Ground jack used when measuring surface to ground resistance |
Place the meter on the surface being tested. Connect the meter to a known ground through the ground jack. Note: When the ground wire is connected through the ground jack, the meter will not measure surface resistivity. Press the center button labeled Test and the LED will illuminate to indicate the resistance to ground. If the LED labeled insulative illuminates, the resistance to ground of the surface under test is greater that 1012 ohms. |
C/ Point to point resistance check. |
Jacks to connect the wires for point to point resistance check (Wires are supplied with the unit) |
Place the meter on the flat surface. Connect the two test wires supplied with the meter to the jacks on the top of the meter (jacks shown on the picture on the left side). Connect the other side of the wires (crocodile clips) to the two points between which the resistance is to be checked. Press the center button labeled Test and the LED will illuminate to indicate the resistance between these two points. If the LED labeled " insulative" illuminates, the resistance between the two points is greater that 1012 ohms. |
Range |
Automatic form 103 Ω/Sq to 1012 Ω/Sq for surface resistivity 103 Ω to1012 Ω for surface to ground resistance 103 Ω to1012 Ω for point to point resistance |

Set of two surface resistivity probes for ZeroCharge Meter A-400.
The probes allow to measure larger surfaces, ESD chairs, labcoats etc.
The set includes the following:
- the probe
- the plate
- the connecting wires
Note 1: For a proper measurement the shoe shall be placed on the metal plate and the hand-held probe has to be pressed on the inner surface of the shoe. The resistance checker will show resistance across the sole which should be 10e10 or lower.
Note 2: The meter is not a part of the set.
